Sophie K.'s Blog

At the end of the day comes another morning!

About Me

Hey there,

This is me, Sophie, but I prefer calling myself chickinator. Unfortunately this name was already taken, so now I’m hickinator.

Guess why I call myself like that, I love chicken. I keep 8 + one rooster at home in my backyard and they are soooo cute! My favourite is Blacky, I helped her out of the eggshell and watched her grow up. The funny thing about her is, that she started laying GREEN eggs at some point, just the same as her aunt Lucy. In my opinion chicken are better “pets” than anything else can ever be, they are cute, learn things and are useful, too.

I love them!

For further informations concerning the chicken have a look at this post.

I think that it is really cool that you have chickens. I have always wanted to get chickens but my parents won’t let me. At one point my mom was thinking about getting chickens but then my dad talked her out of it. It was cool learning about your chickens. If you would like come and check out my blog. 2. G’day Sophie,
One of the classes in Tasmania where I live had a blog devoted to raising chickens. Here is a link to the blog but it is no longer active so you wont get any reply to a comment. You will need to go to the archives and start with their first post in February 2015 http://www.xpress360.net.au/frapri/

Have you found out why the eggs were green?

You reminded me of my friend named Autumn, she has a lot of chickens and quails. She calls the quails, ¨ The Zombie Quails¨. Also that´s pretty weird and cool that your chicken is starting to lay green eggs, maybe you could later have green eggs and ham. Ha, I made a joke….sorry XD Hey check out my blog @http://trinittydh.edublogs.org/

When I asked a vet about the green eggs, he said that that has something to do with the bale, but please don’t ask me what exactly. The color of the eggs can also be blue or chocolate-brown, however, when we bought hens which were supposed to lay those chocolate eggs, one of them laid normal light brown ones and the other turquise-green ones. I don’t quite get the system behind it…?!
